Thy letter #1
Hello strangers, internet friends, and onlookers.
I’m not good at navigating myself through social media and I’ve always been thinking of/searching for healthier ways for me to interact with the world and engage with my supporters. Right now, it feels like I can’t exist without a social media presence since it has become an integral part of a career as a musician. I have a love/hate relationship with being an artist because of this. I’m not very good at following the current format that is expected of an artist - posting TikTok’s, sharing snippets, being a virtual showman… - nor do I necessarily want to follow it. I’ve found myself forcing myself too much when engaging with these platforms and overthinking every decision, wondering if I’m oversharing, under sharing or if what I’m sharing is even worth sharing. These trigger conflicts in my head because I love storytelling, world building and creating immersive universes through art. But when the avenues that are commonly used to broadcast these things are dictated by this weird, controlling and ever-growing presence of “the algorithm,” and who you know in the industry and how well you can maneuver through the two, releasing art becomes unnecessarily overwhelming.
I hope these letters will provide me with a healthier way to express myself, tell stories, and engage with fans or interested onlookers. These letters might be very sporadically sent out. Maybe once or twice a month. I’ll be using this as a public journal and archive of the things I’ve been working on.
RECENT RELEASES
11/02/22 - quami.xyz ft. Viji - i wish i never had you (prod. by Ark Patrol, quami.xyz, .dru & Lecx Stacy)
I met Q (quami.xyz) pre-covid pandemic, way back in January of 2020 at a studio session in Frogtown, LA. We’ve worked on a bunch of things together such as this song, my music video for Took My Time, and an ongoing catalog of music. This song was done earlier this year in Burbank. Q started this track with Ark Patrol and Viji. I was eventually subbed in to add some embellishments. Here’s a photo from when we shot the Took My Time music video in Norcal.
11/03/22 - DEAR-GOD & DoFlame - The Dungeon (prod. by Lecx Stacy, DEAR-GOD)
My Brampton boys. I hung out with Rob (D-G) and Mateo (DF) for a few days early April of this year. Rob and I have been internet friends for ages and finally met IRL during their trip to LA. The first day we met we linked up at a house party in Echo Park, drank, danced and got some street tacos. The following days included skating street spots, shrooming in Malibu, bonding over our love of early Escape the Fate, and jamming/writing new music. I think we made total of 4 songs that week, one of which is The Dungeon.
11/06/22 - Ethel Cain - dust bowl (cover by Lecx Stacy)
Just a loose little spontaneous SoundCloud upload. Dust bowl has been my favorite song for the past month or so. I love Duster and I love Ethel’s take on their song, so I wanted to see what would happen if I added my own spin. I ended up adding a lot of hints of Title Fight in my version. Sidenote, saw Ethel at the Fonda last week and it was fuckin’ spiritual experience.
11/08/22 - Isabella Lovestory ft. Ms Nina - Gateo [mv] (prod. by Lecx Stacy & Chicken)
Gateo is the 4th song that Isabella has released that I’ve been a part of. I’m incredibly honored to be included in her already legendary discography. We met in a studio session in downtown LA right before covid lockdown happened. This was during a time where I’d consistently drive up from San Diego to LA, crash on couches for a week, do an insane number of sessions, then drive back to my parents’ house. I think we started Gateo via zoom in the first few months of covid lockdown.
11/11/22 - Demi Yo’ko - feeling anxious (co-prod. by Lecx Stacy)
Demi’s solo project debut!!! Demi’s work ethic is absolutely bonkers and their talent/vision is just as insane. They’re going to have an exciting next year filled with growth and much deserved flowers.
If you’ve made it this far, I appreciate you and thanks for being here
